Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Turning 27 today and I'm excited about it! Another year older, and supposedly another year wiser...right? Check it out I was born at 8:08 pm on 02/28/82 and I was 8 pounds 2 ounces. Anyway! I'll be celebrating "Hauschkafest" with my peeps here in the big city of DC...Hauschkafest originates from back in College when my roommate at the time decided that one day of celebration wasn't enough so we spread it out over a week. It's been downsized to a three day weekend now which is, I think the perfect amount of time!
We went bowling last night and tonight we'll be tasting and critiquing wines thanks to a lovely friend of mine who offered to teach us a lil something about crushed and fermented grapes. Sunday will be filled with brunch and relaxation! Yaaayyyyy!

Capture my Colorado EXCITEMENT!

WOOT WOOT! Excitement's in the air!
One of my images of aspen shadows on a clean undisturbed blanket of snow has been published in the Capture My Colorado coffee table book. Click on the title link to be redirected to the page where you can purchase a copy of the book! You can also find the image by checking out my website at www.AlpineMoonPhotography.com under the nature and landscape portfolio. The image is also purchasable online!
I captured it a few years ago while I was a snowshoe guide and Naturalist in the Vail Valley. It was my day off so I went snowshoeing on one of my favorite little trails at Maloit Park in Minturn, CO after a fresh snowfall as the sun was sinking below the rockies. I can still remember the great moment...so serene...and marvelous...

Buh Buh Buh Benny and the Jets

For some odd reason Elton John's song, Benny and the Jets, has been running through my head for the last hour...I think it's because I was trying to figure out what the real lyrics are after hearing the song on the radio and realizing that so few people actually know the them. So then I decided to youtube the video and it's bizarre as can be... Click on the title to check it out...the big feathery white suite is my favorite...Could you imagine stepping out on stage wearing that thing?!

Oscar Night DC!

Click on the title for the Slideshow!
We had a gay ole time at the official Academy Award sanctioned viewing event in DC at the Hard Rock Cafe. There was a huge silent auction with some amazing products and a live auctioning off of a beautiful Gibson Guitar signed by the boys of the band O.A.R. The event was hosted by DC blogger Pamela Sorensen pictured with Arch Campbell and CEO of the Red Cross NCA Linda Mathes, and Pamela Brown of DC's News Channel 8 (photo 5). Among the special guests were, Arch Campbell (pictured with the Pamelas), Mrs. DC Kate Marie Grinold with Carl Becker (second photo) and Michael Saylor with Kelly Work (fourth photo). Also pictured below is co-hostess and shoe designer Lacey Kirstein with the lovely Jan Cousteau.

Weddings are Wonderful!

We shot a Mock wedding today...yea...wedding week is great! We were given two fabulous models to photograph and learned a bunch of great techniques. Most importantly for me was the interactions with the couple and the crowds I'm photographing. We meandered through the whipping cold looking like paparazzi over to a cute church on 32nd st. in Georgetown and had a fake ceremony. After a little practice everyone was feeling comfortable so we went back to school and had a ceremony with cake, sparkling cider, and music to boot! I'll tell you, studios don't make the best reception halls, but it was a fun time none the less :)
Look forward to some photos of this next week, I'll be posting them when they're all processed!

Mock Engagement Session

With the world's largest soft box- aka an overcast sky- a slight drizzle, and a chilly casing of air, we headed out as a class to take some photos of models posing as couples trying to be in love...it wasn't as fabulous as the real thing but we did have a good pair. We were absolutely a scene out on the streets of Georgetown photographing like the paparazzi there were about 10 of us shooting two people. Passers by were stopping to watch as though there were something amazing going on.
Anyway! I'll be processing them in the next few days so you can look forward to checking them out soon!

Makeda the Glamazon Diary Goddess!

I had the privilege of photographing the amazing Makeda Saggau-Sackey fabulous writer of the Glamazon Diaries Blog: www.theGlamazondiaries.com We had a great couple hours in the studio laughing and playing with accessories. I plan on photographing her again, but with her giant back filled with hundreds of shoes!

Here are some of her photos from the shoot:

Jack the Puggle

Ok so I had to share the absolute adorableness of this sweet little puggle puppy my brother just purchased. His name is Jack and he's pretty much fantastic! He's a bundle of energy and when he falls asleep he does so by snuggling in on your lap in about 2 seconds...he makes me melt!

Cara and Jamie's Mini Engagement Session

We met in the late afternoon and had some time to catch the sun before it slipped behind the Virginia Skyline. Here are a few shots from their session:
